Synopsis/Details
Within another realm, where mystic powers and urban settings combine, The B.X. is a small urban city and one of the five "villages" in the area. All five villages were protected by the "East Side Warriors" aka "The Seven Legends", a band of samurai with mystical powers. The B.X., in particular, celebrated their heroism with block parties (which included DJs, break-dancers, graffiti artists, and hosts, aka emcees). One of the "East Side Warriors", Oya had the utmost curiosity about the block parties and frequently took her adolescent son, Tai, to them. Unfortunately, one night, three demonic beings appeared during a block party, destroying the "East Side Warriors". Oya, mysteriously, disappears as Tai is left in the care of his father, Kelly. Now, the B.X. is in control of the three demons, called "The Masks", who prefer to bring order to the surrounding cities, starting with "The B.X." The city is patrolled and harassed by armed demons called "The Five Police Members" (courtesy of "The Masks"). As a young adult, Tai spends his days taking care of his father (who was left handicapped after the demon attack), working at the local garden with his close friend, Jade, practicing martial arts with a friend, Li, and putting up with his two friends constantly arguing. The citizens of the B.X. have been able to throw block parties for three days straight without "The Five" raiding them. Jade and Li, respectively, convince Tai to attend to see Jade D.J. and to let him loosen up from his structured days. However, the event does not go as planned as Jade embarrasses herself during her set and "The Five" raid the party, sending the entire community running to avoid arrests (once again, courtesy of "The Masks"). Tai escapes but feels helpless as he hears the panic in his home, however, he is soon challenged to a duel by a mysterious kunoichi (female ninja) and passed a weapon that belonged to his mother (a kusari fundo). The presence of this weapon alerts "The Masks", which puts them on high alert. With the motivation of Jade and Li, Tai goes to talk to his father to find out more information about the connection between the weapon and his late mother. With scrolls left behind from his mother, he discovers that she was on the verge of discovering a power called, "The Vibe" and that there is one more "East Side Warrior" remaining. He also learns that his mother was killed by "The Masks". To his father's dismay, Tai uses the map on the scroll and goes off to find the remaining Warrior, Grandmaster Zulu, hoping that he will train him and assist him in defeating "The Masks". However, Tai does not get far. As Jade and Li try to figure out what his plans are, they are attacked by members of "The Five". Tai, Li, and Jade manage to escape to the abandoned outskirts of the B.X., where they run into an upgraded member of "The Five" who is too strong for them to defeat. The member suddenly gives Tai flashbacks to the night "The Masks" first appeared. The kusari fundo lights up with power and Tai delivers a fatal blow to the member, surprising his friends. Without explanation, he continues his journey to the East Side as his friends follow. "The Masks", Grandmaster Men-Yoroi, Oni and Hannya, make a vow to retrieve the kusari fundo and kill Tai; Oni, sets out to complete their task. While walking, Li and Jade try to figure out what's on Tai's mind and how he powered up the weapon. They decide to discuss later as Tai shows reluctance to relieve the memory of when he last saw his mother. Along their journey, Oni finds them and they go to hide in the abandoned subway, filled with "Goons" (gritty citizens who live underground). Oni, who has control of the goons, sets them off to chase the three through the underground until they are rescued by Kuno. As they attempt to escape the underground, Kuno explains to them that they all have a connection to the "Vibe" which explains how well they can defend themselves. The "Goons" chase the four through the subway again and trap them into a maze-like hallway. Out of desperation, Tai thinks back on his memory and channels the power of the kusari fundo. He rescues his friends from the "Goons" but is attacked by Oni, who overwhelms him quickly. Before Oni can finish his mission, Grandmaster Zulu appears, defeating Oni and leading the others to safety. As Oni recovers, the "Masks" vow to be ready for Tai's return. Grandmaster Zulu and Kuno take the three to the "East Side Sanctuary", a village amongst a quiet and beautiful forest. While there, Tai learns about his mother and "The Vibe", but cannot find any answers about the kusari fundo. He attempts to get answers from Grandmaster Zulu, but he remains mysterious. Frustrated with the secrecy, Tai says that he will learn how to use the kusari fundo. The Grandmaster refuses to allow this. Tai challenges him to a duel, gambling that if he can last three minutes in a duel, then the Grandmaster will defeat "The Masks." Tai and the Grandmaster duel. Though Tai tries his best and has been improving with the weapon, he is still no match for Zulu. {86} After recovering, Tai attempts to train more, despite his numerous injuries. His realization of failure finally enables him to open up his emotions. At that moment, he notices a blue light catches his attention. Following the light, he reaches its destination and the kusari fundo releases the spirit of his mother, Oya. Tai has a long and honest talk with his mother, who reveals that Zulu will not fight the masks as he believes the bodies the demon possess are his old friends from the "East Side Warriors" and that "The Vibe" is an energy that comes from the B.X.'s block parties. Also, the key to unlocking the full power of the kusari fundo is to remember the last memory of who's soul is contains (Oya). She encourages him to remember the last night she saw him and the block party, which unlocks Tai's full potential. His discovery also enables Li, Jade, and Kuno to channel "The Vibe" to defeat "The Masks". The four are granted the title as the current, "East Side Warriors" aka "The Four Elements". Along with Grandmaster Zulu, the four travel back to the B.X. Tai, Kuno, and Zulu fight with the Five Police, Oni and Hannya as Jade and Li gather all the citizens and escort them inside. Li joins in their fight as Jade begins to DJ and spin music. The citizens begin to celebrate as if it is a block party as "The Four" channel their power {106}. Along with Zulu, they are able to defeat Oni and Hannya. Grandmaster Men-Yoroi takes out Jade's D.J. equipment and injures Tai. Jade, Li, Kuno, and Zulu attempt to hold off Men-Yoroi while Tai recovers. Men-Yoroi injures both Lu and Kuno and duels with Zulu. In the midst of their duel, Men-Yoroi delivers a fatal blow to Grandmaster Zulu. Out of anger, Tai channels his kusari fundo and overwhelms Men-Yoroi. The other three recovers and the four work together to deliver a fatal blow to Men-Yoroi, liberating the B.X. from the demons. As the citizens of the B.X. rebuild their city and get ready for the block party, the new "East Side Warriors" make a vow to not only protect the surrounding villages but any city from any place. They agree to their mission as the B.X. celebrates with another block party.

The Writer: Edward Dorsey

I've been inspired to write since reading "Young Adult" novels as a teenager. Throughout the years, I worked on many forms of writing such as poetry, fiction writing, copywriting, and, most personally important, screenwriting. In addition, I've worked on film, television, and other media as well as, independently, produced several short films. As I've grown and my craft has sharpened, I've discovered that writing for me is an adventure through my imagination and creativity. Every time I finish a script, I find myself excited to discover a new story on my next imaginative adventure. Go to bio
