Synopsis/Details
Two best friends, Rob and Dan, are about to enter their final year of high school. After encountering free-spirit, Daisy, they realize they have done absolutely nothing with their time in school so far. In an attempt to make a name for themselves and finally do something, they plan to try out for the school play, The Man Who Came to Dinner. Finding that auditions had passed, they are invited to join the tech crew. As Rob, Dan, and Daisy begin to spend more time together (Daisy being a lead in the play), feelings begin to develop between Rob and Daisy. After one of the leading men in the play suffers an unfortunate accident, Rob is asked to take over his role. Rob's and Daisy's romance blossoms, and they confess their fondness for each other. As time goes by, Rob and Daisy grow very close, and Dan begins to fall to the wayside. As Rob and Daisy are discussing college and their future, Rob receives a phone call from Dan's mother informing him that Dan has died by suicide. Rob struggles with the intense grief of losing his best friend whilst trying to conquer the massive task of writing Dan's eulogy. Rob starts to see and communicate with a vision of Dan that no one else can see. Dan's ghost, along with Daisy, help Rob through the eulogy writing and delivery. During the eulogy, we transition to six years in the future. Daisy and Rob are going through couple's counseling with Dr. Crow. The whole story thus far has been a retelling of the events from Rob's perspective to Dr. Crow. Daisy and Dr. Crow encourage Rob to return home to finally confront his past. He returns to Dan's childhood bedroom, and, guided by the vision of Dan, comes to learn the truth of Dan's situation. Rob learns to accept the past and that he had no roll in Dan's death, and the vision of Dan finally fades.
