Synopsis/Details
Paul is a single parent to nine year-old Charlie and they have a good father and son relationship. He is a Butchery Manager lives with his son in a low cost house and drives him to school every day.
One day his son comes home smelling of cigarettes and Paul asks him why. Charlie tells him he was given the cigarettes by their neighbour Margaret to sell at school. Paul confronts Margaret about it and she denies the whole thing. He does not believe her since she's an ex-convict.
Paul catches Angela, Charlie's mother giving him cigarettes in front of the school. He confronts her and she doesn't care about the consequences of what she's doing. She becomes remorseful however when she realizes that Paul still thinks she can be a good mother. Charlie confesses he took the cigarettes and lied to connect with her. His father teaches him that he doesn't have to sell cigarettes or lie to be with his mother. He has to have faith that one day she will stop drinking and smoking and be the kind of mother he needs her to be.
