Synopsis/Details
Feed the Fish (brief synopsis) Tagline: Two men, mend their friendship despite the separate paths they've chosen and the dangerous job they undertake. (Timeline: 2000 - present day). Synopsis (feature film: comedy/buddy/adventure. US-UK-Belizean cast) Lalo, a former small time drug dealer that was trying make big, has quit the business, and returned to teaching at his small town dance hall. However, he still owes his ex-mate Rex, a huge favour, for getting him off the hook and out of doing "time", for a drug deal that went bust. Rex, a drug smuggler and tango aficionado, has been offered the job of a lifetime, but it’s not a one man job. That is to transfer tons of cocaine from a secure location deep in the jungles of Central America to the hulls of a couple of cruise ship destined to the US Gulf coast. With no one else to turn to and more importantly no one else he can trust; contacts Lalo in order to "call in his chips" and persuades him to do the job; just this one last time. Then they both can retire and fulfil their passion, dancing the tango in the steamy and seductive salons of Buenos Aires, Lalo's hometown. Only thing is, Lalo has aqua phobia, the very sight of deep, open water makes him panic. Lalo is cured by hypnosis, with the aid of a local diving and spiritual guru, who's unaware, though suspicious of what Lalo and Rex are truly up to. The cocaine transfer is completed in the nick of time, despite two small time daft rivals that are in hot pursuit and a category 4 hurricane is already in the eastern Caribbean, head west, right into their path. With their 500K pay off, Lalo and Rex head south to the Buenos Aires International Tango Championships. Where Lalo is supposed to be met by his star pupil, Acadia, she's a no show, so the guys pair off, hit the floor and win the contest. In the meantime, the US Department of Homeland Security and the DEA, have decided to try out new, upgraded sonar detection technology on all of the ships docked in port, so the stash is discovered, a fact that Rex is privy to (via his ex-Royal Navy mates) and informs Lalo of, after the job is done. By the time the source of the drugs is found, Lalo and Rex are living their dreams, as partners on the dance floor (since Acadia is a no show; she’s already found another dancing partner) at: The World Championship of Tango, in Buenos Aires - First Place Champions. Typical ending: Whilst on the dance floor Rex and Lalo are arrested by Argentine law officials and extradited to back Belize, where in prison they're sentenced to 10 years; but are fulfilling their dream of dancing and teaching tango - to their fellow inmates.
