Synopsis/Details
French resistance fighter Violette Bonheur and her husband Henri have been captured by the Gestapo in the thick of WWII, and are under interrogation about some stolen dynamite. To get them talking, the Germans decide to raid a nearby children’s home, aware that the Bonheur’s have two daughters residing there: 10 year-old Matilda and 7 year- old Isabelle. But when the Nazis show up, the two brave Bonheur daughters manage to slip away, into the nearby forest. Having grown up hearing stories about a powerful and heroic golem, the two young girls put aside their fears and enter the old stone walls of an abandoned castle in search of food. In doing so, they have a terrifying encounter with a dark, winged creature and realize the stories are true. But the creature is no golem, it is a prince who was long ago cursed and turned into a gargoyle by an enchantress living in the mountains. Hoping the gargoyle can protect them, like the golem of Jewish lore, Matilda and Isabelle offer to help the prince lift his curse. Meanwhile, their parents race to find and rescue their little girls and the other Jewish children before they’re taken away via train to Nazi concentration camps. Both halves of this brave family carry out their own high-stakes mission as they take the fight to the Nazis, with their stories weaving together toward a gripping and action-packed showdown between good and evil.

The Writer: Brendon Udy

Hailing from Tauranga, New Zealand, I realised my passion for writing while studying film and television at the University of Auckland. After some local success writing and directing short films, I made the shift to features in 2013, and even flew to Hollywood to attend a screenwriting convention, where I met my co-writer, Victoria Rau. Victoria and I co-wrote 4 features together, all of which placed quarterfinals or above in various screenwriting contests. I have since found success writing solo, with my horror script Underground making Bloodlist.com's 2017 Fresh Blood Selects list. Outside of writing, I work as a freelance digital copywriter and have been travelling around Europe for the… Go to bio
