Synopsis/Details
GLORY STRONG (80s) has her car impounded after a fender bender in the grocery lot. Meanwhile, her nephew JAMES STRONG (19) is kicked out of his house by his father, Glory's brother, for some unknown reason. When James comes to live with Glory, he finds that--just like him--she's lost her zest for life. But, Glory suddenly comes alive when she shares stories about her days as the first woman--and woman of color--to play in the professional Negro Leagues. Through Glory's stories, James confronts the challenges of being a Black trans teen trying to affirm his true gender as a woman. When James and Glory sign up to coach a local little league team comprised of both boys and girls, they are both inspired by the innocence of children and how they make every day fun and exciting. Together, Glory and James will regain their enthusiasm for life and face their own personal demons while clashing with friends, family, and society, no matter the cost.
