Synopsis/Details
Goaskin is a psychological/crime thriller. It is a four part drama, with each part (Act) approximately 1 hour in length. The first part has been uploaded. Further details are available upon request.
The story begins at the end. A goaskin gives a bird’s eye view of a cabin in snowy wilderness of the fells of Northern Finland. It watches as men and women fight for their lives until, finally, a woman (Alex) collapses to her knees. She smiles at her victory against the odds. Smiles as the Finnish police come to her rescue. Nothing escapes the keen eye of the lone raptor. It sees everything ... it sees nothing.
Alex - a former Royal Military Police Officer - is forced to relive memories she would rather forget. The source of her pain is a Metropolitan Detective Inspector (Armstrong). Armstrong has a seemingly cavalier – almost whimsical – manner, whereas Alex is serious and factual. The two have an uneasy and challenging relationship and their interaction is what drives most of the story. There are points in the story where there are hints towards something beyond a professional relationship.
Armstrong is investigating the murders of two former soldiers. Both soldiers (along with three others) were previously arrested by Alex for the brutal murder of an Iraqi family. The soldiers were convicted, but the sentences received (fifteen years in a military prison) were less than Alex considered warranted for the crimes committed and, in protest, she resigned her commission.
The deaths of the first two soldiers mirror the way in which members of the Iraqi family were brutally mutilated and killed and Alex is simultaneously both a source of information to help Armstrong unravel the puzzle he faces and a suspect. As the story develops, further members of the squad of five soldiers are murdered and alibis and facts which had seemed ‘set in stone’ are brought into question and Alex’s involvement – or not – becomes a central theme.
