Synopsis/Details
Our story opens in Kentucky, 1939. We meet WILL CAMPBELL, mid 30’s,. He’s been gone for last five years. The death of his mother brings him home. He runs into PEGGY MORRIS, 20, an independent spitfire who yearns to be a lawyer but in 1939 has to settle for court stenographer.
Will remembers Peggy as “squirt,” the tomboy teen who tagged along with him and his buddies. But Peggy’s not a kid anymore and she always loved Will. A romance develops. But Will’s concerned about the fifteen years age difference. Peggy says, “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you in your Golden Years.”
Peggy’s older brother Leo, a burn out WW1 veteran, gets drunk one day and can’t go to his job at the new government facility in town: Fort Knox. Knowing Leo will get fired, Will takes his place as a Treasury Guard. He’ll sneak in, hide out in the bathroom, and pretend to be sick for a few hours until Peggy can sober Leo up.
But the plan goes to hell when Fort Knox is taken over by a rogue team of time traveling ex-Navy seals. Led by ADMIRAL, and MO, his loyal (female) second in command, they’ve traveled back in time for the ultimate heist. Will goes into action, fighting highly trained bad guys and holding his own. (He was a mercenary during those five years away from home)
When the bad guys grab Leo at home (needing his piece of the vault’s combination), they also grab Peggy. Their database connects Will and Peggy (as the two later marry) and uses Will’s love to make him back down. The rogue squad grabs the gold, Peggy, locks Will in a flooding vault, and escapes.
But Will also escapes and catches up to the bad guys at the time portal. Swinging in on an airship’s tie-line like Errol Flynn in “Captain Blood,” he chases Admiral, Mo, and Peggy inside…
Where Mo shoves Peggy into the sea of time, crushing Will’s heart as Peggy is lost to history. Will follows Admiral and Mo into 2024. He kills MO and has a gunfight with Admiral that would make Sam Pekinpah swoon.
Later, Will is on death row. Admiral was also a sitting US Senator and Will is the man with no past, and a crazy story, who killed him. He keeps sending Public Defenders away. He wants to die, having lost the only woman he ever loved. On the day of his execution, the most powerful and politically connected lawyer in the country insists on seeing him. It’s PEGGY!
Will rockets to his feet. They kiss. And boy what a kiss it is. Now much older than Will, Peggy voices her concern over the 15 years age difference. Will replies, “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of you in your golden years.”
