Synopsis/Details
Inspired by Kylie Minogue and ‘80s rock, this isn’t a musical, but a film where music amplifies emotions and tensions, soundtracking the journey of a mid-20s, trainee accountant called EMMA. The film explores contrasting themes - strait-laced vs. free spirit, straight vs. bi, rock vs. pop, country vs. city, and past vs. present.
Emma navigates love, career, and friendships while chasing her dream of owning a farm, a horse and having a horse-drawn carriage at her wedding. She meets WILL, a lead singer, and JOSH, a drummer, both mid-20s. She’s drawn to Will’s charm but connects deeply with Josh, which helps keep their bond alive.
Their band, DALANE, surprisingly win a Battle of the Bands contest to support Guns N' Roses on their UK tour. But the road strains Josh and Emma’s relationship, culminating in Josh cheating with a guy. Emma, unaware, accepts Josh’s proposal on stage at their final gig at Wembley. Only later, when celebrating her exam results, does the truth come out. With her friends and Will’s help, she forgives Josh.
Josh makes a grand gesture - buying her a horse. They marry, with a horse-drawn carriage, White Wedding blaring out, culminating at an evening reception set to On a Night Like This, as Emma and Josh celebrate with their friends and family.
