Highly Favored

Morgan Daniels, accepts a great task from Zeus, hours into her 18th birthday. While working a late night shift at the diner, she is greeted by a beautiful man who introduces himself as Zeus. The lightning God informs the young woman that she had been favored since the day that she was born, although very wary Morgan accepts the task from Zeus by touching the lightning bolt in his hand. With the help of her best friend Ophelia Gonzalez, Ophelia’s neighbor Johnny Lin, and Morgan’s crush Ahmed Abadi. Each possessing a different skill that seems to benefit the mission at hand. In an act of revenge Medusa steals the God Killer (most powerful sword) from Hephaestus and hides away in the underworld with Hades, and has remained there for almost 500 years, waiting..and planning. This enrages the Gods and Goddesses of Olympus to no end, but they refuse to step foot into the Underworld. Knowing this Zeus waits until Morgan’s 18th birthday to Favor her, and hands her a scroll that’ll help her along the way. Once she accepts the mission Morgan rushes to her best friend Ophelia’s house, it is there that Morgan opens the scroll and is immediately sent into a trance-like state. She watches all the events play out in her head and learns that she needs to go to the underworld and retrieve the God Killer before it’s too late. But they quickly notice that the scroll remains blank afterwards, giving away nothing else. Yet their excitement and nervousness is still loud enough to wake Ophelia’s neighbor Johnny who knocks on their door to tell them to keep it down. Johnny notices the paper in Ophelia’s hand and points out that it is a cool map. Once Morgan and Ophelia register that Johnny is the only one that can see the map on the scroll, they tell him about Zeus. The map then leads the group to the local library, to find the second half of the scroll. While there Morgan runs into Ahmed, her crush who asks to speak to her outside. Their conversation is quickly interrupted by Ms. Ramone, a usually sweet ward of the library, who has now been possessed by an evil being sent by Medusa to dis-way Morgan from carrying out the task. Ms. Ramone lets out a screech so loud it sends every car in the parking lot off, Morgan and Ahmed fall to the ground covering their ears in pain. Once the screeching is over Ms. Ramone disappears. Entering the library Morgan see’s that everyone was affected, the group then explain to Ahmed what’s going on and he reveals that he’s been obsessed with Hephaestus books for a couple of weeks now and offers to help by making weapons for their journey. It is also revealed that Ahmed’s older brother was Favored but died halfway through the journey. After finding the other half of the map Morgan returns home to find that everyone at the orphanage has been turned to stone. Bastian, a messenger of Hades appears behind her and assures her they felt no pain, he then assures her that she would never win against Hades and Medusa. This lights a fire deep in Morgan’s soul, a bolt of lightning quickly dashes across her eyes causing Bastian to take a step back. He has seen God’s help their Favored before, but never has he seen a favor showing signs of power as the God who chose them. It intrigues him, although he doesn’t show and with one final warning he turns and makes a swift exit. Morgan calls Ophelia just to make sure she’s okay, updates her on what just occurred and Ophelia comes to pick her up, they go back to Ophelia’s place to meet up with Johnny and regroup. Johnny informs them that they have to get to the Temple of Zeus’s Church in order to get their destination in Athens, Morgan calls Ahmed and he informs her that there might be a portal door in the Temple of Zeus that takes you to the start of your mission. The following day Morgan, Ophelia and Johnny meet at Ahmed’s house and he shows them the weapons he stayed up all night making. Once the group gets to the temple of Zeus, they’re met with another messenger sent by Hades. This time it was a wolf, the size of a human. He charges at the group in full force which causes them to split up as they begin running, Morgan separates from the group, as she runs blindly through the Temple with the wolf chasing after her.
