Synopsis/Details
Wes Curtis, a 20-year-old inmate of The Hitchcock Sanitarium,
is preparing to be released. He has completed his court
mandated 10 year stint due to a murder conviction. Seated with
his 50-year-old psychiatrist - Dr. Louis Samuels, Wes begins to
recount the events of that fateful night. Following his heinous
tale, Dr. Samuels bestows praise onto Wes for being able to
finally remember the night after a decade of treatment in order
to assist him to do so.
Later that day, Wes is picked up by his older brother (James
Curtis) and lifelong best friend (Sean Williamson) upon his
release. During the subsequent car ride, the two inform Wes
of a celebratory trip they have planned for him. This will take
place in Sean’s desolate family vacation cabin. Wes is reluctant
at first, but following some convincing, he obliges. The trio,
along with their significant others and a few more friends,
embark on the trip.
Upon their arrival at the cabin, Wes isolates himself from the
rest of the group. It is around this same time that the others
begin to feel eerie and believe someone is watching them. This
proves to be true, as a masked killer is revealed, and begins to
pick off members of the group, killing them one by-one. With
Wes missing, the others begin to demonize him, much to the
chagrin of best-friend Sean, who has always believed
Wes to be innocent and wrongly convicted.
When Sean leaves the cabin to search for his missing girlfriend,
only the two brothers, James and Wes, remain inside. James
is attacked, and Wes flees, hiding in a closet until the attacker
is gone. However, when he attempts to check on James, Sean
re-enters the cabin and witnesses Wes kneeling over the
seemingly lifeless James with blood on his hands. Immediately,
Sean feels betrayed and begins to fear that he has been
wrong about Wes all along. Sean then begins to attack Wes
until James is heard recovering and is proven to still be alive.
Sean comes to James’ aid. However, this proves to be a grave
mistake, as James suddenly pulls a pair of scissors out of his
back pocket and stabs Sean to death.
Witnessing this, Wes dashes to save Sean, but he is stopped in his
tracks by the masked killer, who is revealed to be Dr. Louis Samuels.
Following this reveal, James Curtis and Dr. Samuels detail their
maniacal plan that they have been playing out for over a decade.
Eventually, James shoots his brother in the stomach, and he and Dr.
Samuels scurry to cover all of their tracks and flee the scene. As
the two drive away, a flashback showcases what truly happened on
that fateful night one decade ago. The duo had used brainwashing
techniques developed by Dr. Samuels at the Hitchcock Sanitarium in
order to make Wes believe he had truly committed the murder. Back
in the present, Wes awakens and crawls over to Sean. An apologetic
tear falls from his eye as he collapses on top of his best friend as the
screen fades to black
