Synopsis/Details
Hip Hop Murder Mysteries goes deep inside the life of Kennedy Mason. He's' young, smart, ambitious, and fortunate having grown up in the Buckhead section of Atlanta along with his brother Preston. Not long after discovering his ability to transform his poetry into witty rhymes in high school, he began writing lyrics and producing beats for his older brother who was also an aspiring rapper but lacked the same skill set. What Preston lacked in his writing ability he made up with his charm, charisma, and stage presence. After an explosive fight between the two, they go their separate ways. Kennedy begins making a name for himself by releasing mixtapes online. Soon the word was out at school as well as in the streets bringing him notoriety. Up to the present time, Kennedy had been a straight-A student gaining awards, recognition, and scholarships to multiple Ivy League colleges. However, making music, in particular, hip hop music became his life’s mission. After graduating high school, his plan was to forgo his full-ride scholarship to Georgia Tech to pursue his rap career. But after his mother caught wind of this she promised to buy him a state-of-the-art studio if he went to college. He begrudgingly accepted her proposal choosing what he thought would be the easiest major to pacify his mother; criminal justice. As fate would have it, thanks to a high school friend he gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be introduced to the CEO of Conflict Records (Big D) and eventually lands his first placement as a producer. He goes on to record hit records for all of the labels’ top acts yet never gets signed as an artist. As time goes by he notices a trend, every artist he works with tragically loses a family member close to them. Coinencedenty or not afterward, their careers skyrocket. Four years later he graduates college with his criminal justice degree, and over a million dollars in the bank due to his productions. Meanwhile, his relationship with his brother continued to deteriorate. Plan B (Preston) decides to use his brother's name to land a meeting with an A&R at Conflict, the demos were songs he had previously stolen from Kennedy’s which lands him a record deal. It all comes to a head as Kennedy is assigned a studio session with a new artist. Thinking it’s business as usual, he’s beyond surprised to discover the artist is his brother. Concerned his mother's life could be in jeopardy, he immediately barges into Big D’s office late to witness an orgy going on with artists signed to the label. After declining to participate in disgust he finally speaks on what's been going on at the label to his detriment. The next afternoon Kennedy was informed that he was being released from his production contract. Kennedy finds himself penniless living back home with his mom and vows revenge.
