Synopsis/Details
Abby Goldstein is an emotionally-damaged, economically-challenged college freshman who was already out of her league even before she got a scholarship at a prestigious Ivy. Her self-assured rich college roommate Taylor takes Abby under her wing, and for the first time in her life, she feels wanted. Taylor gives Abby a social life, bringing her to bars and parties where the cool kids hang out. One evening, Taylor introduces her to her darkly handsome boyfriend, Ali, whose father is head of a Palestinian charity based in Beverly Hills. Ali is powerful and seductive, but when he makes micro aggressive antisemitic remarks, Aaron comes to her rescue, and Ali backs down.
Abby is taken with Aaron and it isn't long before they become a couple. But after the attack on October 7, Aaron heads back to Israel to rejoin his IDF unit. Taylor convinces Abby that Aaron abandoned her and that the righteous cause is that of the Palestinians. Once again lost and vulnerable, Abby becomes Taylor's wingman in pro-Palestinian rallies that threaten to close down the university. When Ali's father and a highly regarded Jewish director are killed in L.A., the trail leads to Ali, who is pursued to the East Coast by FBI Agent Joe Zaleski. At Abby’s most vulnerable moment, Ali forces himself on her. But when Abby learns Aaron has been killed in Gaza, trying to recover hostages, she gets in touch with how she's been duped, leads Zaleski to Ali, getting in touch with her own self worth for the first time in her life.
