Synopsis/Details
Miley O'Keith was born into a substantial amount of wealth, and therefore, has taken a lot of things for granted in her life. She lives on the west side of Orchard Cove, California, and goes to Weston High, she's only recently had to deal with any sort of challenge, after learning that she won't be able to attend college because she's been failing most of her classes since she skips school and parties late. When her parents find out, she's given until the end of summer to figure out what she wants to do with her life because her parents are cutting her off and kicking her out.
At the same time, Ocean Manson is struggling with a ton of things. After his father's death a few years ago on tour, he's had to take care of his mother, who has just entered stage four of Pancreatic Cancer. His brother, Solomon, decides that Ocean would do better focusing on school than trying to do anything with artwork or poetry. Ocean doesn't believe him anyway because he's not exactly an example.
Demi, Miley's best friend, is hosting a very big party for the graduated seniors who are spending their last summer in Orchard Cove. Ocean is forced to go by Solomon, who says that he needs to get out more. He ends up meeting Miley and really clicking with her. After a conversation about her life purpose, Ocean proposes that he can help her.
Out of nowhere, Demi finds out that she's pregnant, and after a helpful conversation with a family friend, she enlists Miley to help her. Unfortunately, things get out of hand really quick and Solomon, her boyfriend, storms out, alongside a hurt Ocean.
After a terrible car accident, in which Ocean has passed, Miley helps each one of Ocean's closest people come to terms with his death by reading them Ocean's poems. In which Ocean talks about all of the life's problems.
Many years pass and Miley is back in Orchard Cove, kids, husbands, and work has all changed her life. She goes back to Ocean's memorial to see him, where she seems to talk to him in her head. Ocean talks to her about how much he's missed her since she's gone. And how she can't visit him any longer. It's soon revealed that Ocean isn't the one who's dead. And that everything that happened after his death, is all in his head.
