Synopsis/Details
The film opens with Arthur, at a bar with his friends, where they all share complaints about
their wives. Amidst the laughter, drinks, he receives a call from his wife, which prompts him
to leave the bar to visit his in-laws. As he departs, he takes note of a sign that reads "No
Smoking, No Drinking". This triggers the character to return to his reality where he is alone
in a library, daydreaming of a life he could never get.
Arthur's journey takes a dark turn as he arrives at his apartment where Kayla, a woman, is
seen bound and bruised. Arthur apologizes for his tardiness and attempts to celebrate his
birthday with Kayla by presenting her with her favorite cupcake. However, Kayla rejects the
gesture, throwing the cupcake away, which incites Arthur's anger. He reveals to Kayla that
he had developed an emotional attachment to her and had exhausted all his savings to
support her dreams. Accusing her of ruining his life, Arthur begins to physically assault her
with his belt.
The film then transitions into a flashback of Arthur's initial interaction with Kayla. They are
seen chatting on a cam site, where Arthur asks Kayla to meet him in person. However, she
declines, citing company policy and privacy concerns as her reasons. Arthur, undeterred by
her refusal, attempts to locate her at various audition locations, but to no avail. The
narrative then shifts to a rainy evening with Kayla driving alone. She encounters a guy in
hoodie, whose car has broken down on a deserted street. He requests a screwdriver from
the trunk of her car, and as Kayla turns to fetch it, he strikes her on the head with a glass
bottle. The chilling and creepy smile of Arthur is seen as she goes down. He then proceeds
to confine her in the trunk of her own car. The scene concludes as it fades to black
