Synopsis/Details
Gracie Jones, freshly dropped out of college, moves home to the ghetto with her older sister Whitney. One of Whitney's hobbies, as it turns out, is grouping up with her girlfriends, walking the streets at night, and dispensing beatdowns to catcallers and rapists (would-be or acquitted). Gracie is invited along by Whitney's friend Tasha; Whitney is reluctant about her presence until she shows off amazing fighting skill when breaking up a rape in progress. Later on in the night, an altercation outside a convenience store draws the attention of the police, putting Whitney in danger. Gracie disarms the cop and the gang flees; the next morning, a news piece runs regarding a "women's militia" and a few videos of the altercation surface, raising a bit of publicity for the gang.
On the next outing, a high school student named Alice asks the gang for help; they raid her father's underground casino and interrogate her father, Xiaofeng, for the name of the man he let have sex with Alice. He offers only "LeGrange," and Gracie issues a standing threat to him for everyone in the room. LeGrange, a Haitian crime boss, gets word of this and sends a goon to kill her. Whitney is killed instead; Gracie chases down the guy who did it and holds him captive for a few days before interrogating him. He gives up some info about LeGrange but stops short of where to find him, prompting Gracie to kill him.
They dump the body and call a meeting of the whole gang, about twenty strong. Gracie offers a plan to shut down LeGrange's crime ring (which involves sex slavery) by tailing the bouncers from Xiaofeng's casino; another gang member, Kendall, backs out and takes about half the gang with her to start a women's shelter instead. The gang committed to the fight finds LeGrange's HQ, concocts an arsenal of IEDs, rallies at the HQ and burns it down. Just as the police arrive, everyone but Gracie leaves; she stays to watch it burn and is violently arrested by the police.
