Synopsis/Details
Monsters Return Synopsis by Rodney Copenhaver Rcopenhaversr@gmail.com (717)512-8426 A handsome, but nerdy teenager must lead a group of unlikely heroes against monsters of old when their small town is attacked. Derek Miles, a nerdy, African American teenager, lacks the confidence to tell the girl of his dreams, Alyssa Brandon, how he feels. He constantly draws the attention of the school bully, Greg Butler, a defensive lineman on the varsity team that comes from a very wealthy family. Derek has an unusual, but great group of friends that he grew up with. John Stevenson, starting varsity quarterback. John is very humble, despite being super-popular. Jax Hennon is the rebel of the group. He gets in a lot of trouble in, and out of school. Cooper Dixon is a heavyset, redneck, lovable guy. He has a big heart and a big mouth. These four are the best of friends. Jax witnesses a murder after fleeing from the police. He escapes to Cooper’s house to tell his friends. Not truly believing his story, they head to the field to check the scene out. They soon discover the story is true and come face-to-face with Dracula. Barely escaping with their lives, they flee and devise a plan to attack. That same night, Greg and his friends are bitten by Dracula and become his pawns. Derek and his friends go to a cavern the next day, hoping to end the vampire threat. They are overrun by skeletons and other undead. Knowing Dracula and his minions will attack their town, the friends equip themselves and head in to the annual Halloween parade. An all-out battle ensues with a slew of monsters, skeletons, and zombies, and with their nemesis, Greg. Their chances look bleak, as they have thousands of undead attacking the town. Their courage and Derek’s quick thinking win out in the end as Derek injects infected blood in to Dracula, causing the vampire a great deal of pain, and giving them a moment of opportunity to defeat him. This story is filled with scary moments and laughs throughout.

The Writer: Rodney Copenhaver

I have been a writer my whole life. In my youth, I wrote funny, short stories. As a teenager, I wrote songs and tons of Dungeons & Dragons adventures, and designed a whole realm. I also wrote rhyming poetry from time to time over the years. Through it all, I have always held on to the dream of professional writing. I've always thought about writing a novel, and even began to do so several times, but I never followed through on it. It wasn't until last year that I discovered that writing for me really flowed when it came to writing a movie script. I wrote a whole story in a few months and then went through the process of learning about script formatting. At this point, I just want to get… Go to bio
