Synopsis/Details
Fiona Mulgrew is a young Irishwoman who makes a lean existence as an artist. Thrown out of her home as a teenager, and with a broken marriage behind her, she craves stability, and the ability to continue her slightly unconventional lifestyle.
On a day seemingly like any other she meets Peter up on a clifftop. Fearing he is suicidal, she strikes up a conversation with him. Peter is not suicidal, but is contemplating a life-limiting diagnosis – pancreatic cancer. As he learns more about his diagnosis, and is helped by Fiona to come to terms with it, and to make amends where necessary with his family, their growing friendship turns to love and they enjoy an intensely happy, but short time together.
Fiona helps Peter to enjoy the days that remain, and Peter helps her to discover the joys of family that she has missed all her life. Of course, this bliss is time-limited, and Fiona learns to come to terms with both motherhood and widowhood very quickly.
As Fiona carries on her life without Peter, she becomes shocked when, a couple of years after her husband has died, she develops feelings for another man - her husband’s younger brother. She learns, though, that her late husband has laid the foundations for this by preparing the rest of the family to allow Fiona to live her life and to regain happiness, but still as a part of her new, loving family.
