Synopsis/Details
In the walled-off town of Nenjac, high school theater is more than just drama. It's war. At the heart of this chaotic community lies a bizarre, self-contained high school where rules, reality, and taste are... flexible.
The story kicks off with Deegs, a chaotic teen with an interest in bombs, and his best friend Sarre, a wannabe actor harboring a deep crush on the popular Dean McQueen. They’re late for theater auditions, but in Nenjac, nothing is ever simple or safe. As they rush to the theater, they trade insults, banter, and questionable political correctness, setting the tone for the pilot's strange humor.
Inside Nenjac Theater, chaos reigns. Dean McQueen, ever the golden boy, is surrounded by adoring fans. Meanwhile, their eccentric friends, Allen (a skull-obsessed taxidermist), Elle (a dramatic incense-shop assistant), Cas (a laid-back guitar player), Nina (whose silent gaze says it all), and the intelligent Nerd, all circle around, waiting for their moment to shine on stage.
Sarre auditions confidently for the role of the Indian Judge, while Deegs stumbles through his performance, yet miraculously gets praised as “angelic” by the high as a kite director Warren. Suspicious of this sudden acclaim, Deegs suspects Warren hallucinated the whole thing, but decides to roll with it for the social clout.
Deegs and Sarre strike a pact: if Deegs is going to ride the popularity train, Sarre wants a stake in the fame. Together, they agree to co-rule the theater’s social hierarchy. But their dream is short-lived. Warren, completely unbothered, randomly casts the parts, handing the lead role of Flint Madden to Dean instead of Deegs. Deegs is relegated to the humiliating role of Doorknob #3.
In a fit of rage and crushed pride, Deegs snaps. His bomb triggering “FOR ALLAH!” returns, and the theater explodes.
