Synopsis/Details
It has been 33 years since an unknown virus wiped out the old world. Deadly and fast-spreading, the virus forced two billion survivors to take refuge inside 200 bio-energy domes created by the DoMe.Co corporation. In 2063, the virus remains active, evolved, and adapted to the new environment. Humanity has also changed: 15 years after the activation of the Domes, one-third of the population developed somatic mutations, causing a dramatic rift between humans and neo-humans. Time has done the rest, depleting resources, cutting off communication between Domes, and robbing the inhabitants of hope.
In Dome 200, a precarious social balance is maintained by a religion that venerates the Dome as the divine protector of the “New Eden” and preaches racial equality. However, mixed unions are strictly forbidden to preserve “genetic purity,” and those who break this law are sacrificed to the generator that powers the Dome. Social tension remains high, worsened by the frequent disappearances of neo-humans.
The spark that ignites the fire is the sudden disappearance of Mark Silcovitz, the biologist who mapped the neo-human genome. All signs point to an abduction. To investigate his disappearance, the Grand Master of the Dome Cult needs someone familiar with the neo-human area of the city who won’t arouse suspicion. The choice falls on Alan Beck, a former human police officer turned private detective, haunted by the memory of his wife lost during the Great Mutation. Beck accepts the mission and, along with a team of humans and neo-humans with unique abilities, embarks on a journey that leads him from the slums of Lowtown to the most mysterious corners of New Eden. Deep within its foundations lie the answers to the enigmas—and the horrors of a past that refuses to die.
