Synopsis/Details
In a no too distant future time, life has not changed a lot for human beings. Everyone fights or tolerates more or less in the same way as it has always been before, and current, daily and ordinary existence means all for people, specially in small towns, wherever in the occidental world they are. Vera, a young social worker, is someone who seems to focus constantly on helping the others when she realizes they have a problem, big or small. Sometimes this is a reason for arguing whith her sympathetic and loving boyfriend who feels a little bit lonely. Doctors have been studying for years some kind of unknown disease that is growing among the population, with no success in understanding its origin or finding any treatment: many men come to a point in their lives when they lose their voices with no apparent reason. When the disease spreads too much around Vera, touching so many people she knows, she starts her own non-scientific investigation, and everything becomes worse when two women are murdered in her city. A lot of her neighbours think it all comes from a black magic spell, though Vera is not that superstitious. However, finding out the truth leads to a sad pessimistic ending: it is too late for changing a fatal fate.

The Writer: Amaya Álvarez

My name is Amaya Álvarez, I live in Spain and I have been writing scripts for the last 20 years. My professional career has been focused on stage direction, but I never stopped writing, and until now only a few of my screenplays have come to life becoming short features. This could be a new chance for me. I can write in Spanish and English, and I have different ideas for film or tv scripts which I can show hoping they get where they really deserve to be.
