Synopsis/Details
In 1897 a UFO crashes on a farm in Aurora, Texas. A farmer discovers the wreckage and finds an alien in the craft. Upon contact, a surge of electrical energy transfers to the farmer. Modern day. A college student, SAMANTHA, is giving a presentation when she suffers a seizure. Not uncommon, due to her epilepsy, though this seizure seems to be brought on by flashbacks of Samantha’s childhood memories. Her boyfriend, ROBERT, comes to her aid and brings her home. Later, while babysitting, odd things begin occurring around Samantha. Electrical disturbances. Lights flicker. Devices shut off and on. And a creepy “e, I, e, I, o,” plays through a little girl’s See-N-Say. It seems something is haunting Samantha. Something is testing her sanity. When Samantha learns she’s inheriting her family’s farm, she’s faced with the decision to return to her childhood home. A home she hasn’t been to since she was five years old where her parents died from an alleged double suicide. An eerie visit to a psychic reveals that some “thing” has been with her since the night of her parents’ death. Samantha tries to speak with Robert during his art gallery premiere, but a painting comes to life, putting her face to face with an eerie farmer, and blurring the lines of reality. She ends up in the hospital. Robert convinces Samantha she needs a weekend get-a-way. Their trip to the farm is anything but peaceful, and Robert grows more concerned about Samantha’s well-being. An old vinyl record player starts playing “e, I, e, I, o” and particles of light appear. She watches in horror as Robert is attacked by something unseen and killed by the vinyl record. The light particles form an orb which materializes into the physical form of the old farmer, grinning at Samantha through Robert’s split-part midsection. It’s too much, Samantha bolts. The entity chases Samantha through a string of lights, exploding one bulb after another in its pursuit. She hides in an old barn where she discovers an underground room full of electrical components. The farmer telepathically converses with Samantha, hinting at its involvement in the death of her parents. She manages to escape, ending up back in the hospital. It’s her good friend, COLTER, a brainiac with a background in physics, who Samantha confides in. Not only does he believe in her wild story, but he also unveils his own research in the study of quantum mechanics. He connects everything. The UFO crash. Her family’s history. And, his plan for how they can trap the other-worldly being. However, when Samantha witnesses the psychic lady murdered by the farmer, she suffers a breakdown and is placed in a psychiatric hospital by her therapist, DR. FELCHER. When the entity pays a visit, Samantha learns it needs her DNA to return to its own world. Colter breaks her out of the hospital using a device he created which causes its own electrical disturbance. With a plan intact, Colter and Samantha return to the farm. His device seems to work, emitting an energy field which disrupts the entity’s abilities. But a lightning storm causes the device to fail. Colter is attacked. To save him, Samantha agrees to go with the entity. The underground room is in fact…a reconstructed craft. Colter improvises. He places his device on a windmill, harnessing the energy from the lightning storm and blasting the craft out of the sky. Samantha survives. Seems the plan has worked. Driving away from the farm Colter glances at Samantha. She grins. Her eyes flash, and she mutters, “e, I, e, I, o”. The car crashes. Samantha is now embodied by the entity.
