Synopsis/Details
Out of Season is a single-camera sitcom about a team of boisterous lifeguards who were given the arduous task of protecting something that was never in danger. Where having to look busy is met with a wicked smile and everyone wants to be a hero, but no one needs saving. I want to mellow out "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", without taking away its edge and creativity. I want to give a warm heart to a team that shares the bond of an unlikely occupation and feels like an invisible underdog. It's a personal show, coming from years of experience in the outdoor industry, where an uncanny balance is always struck between trying to one up each other and looking after what ultimately becomes your family. CHARACTERS Carla Fischer – Former Olympian, she was forced out of the German swimming team after losing an eye to a rogue paper plane (she had to serve a short jail sentence after attacking the kid who threw it). She's totally obsessed with health and safety. Keelan Lloyd – The man who started it all: he decided to setup the winter team after his cat ran off into the sea. Firmly convinced to be doing God's work, he holds a dark secret: he doesn't know how to swim. Max Wilson – Every company needs an IT guy and the lifeguard team definitely needed someone to keep an eye on the weather. Conspiracy theory enthusiast, he joined the team believing it was an under-cover program and he's still convinced Keelan works for the MI6. Sebastian – Lifeguard by day, live streamer by day... Sebastian is determined to become a social media influencer and has no intention of leaving any moment of his life private. He became a lifeguard to bring more excitement to his vlogs, but after an infamous accident (he didn't pet a dog) he's attracted a passionate following of dog haters. SEASON 1 1 – Pilot While Max and Sebastian fight over the morality of a business opportunity, Keelan shows Carla the importance of a strong father figure by turning his back on a rescue. Also, a council member investigating the department shows up at the door. 2 – Survival Instinct Keelan, Max and Sebastian try to stop Carla from getting to the Marathon, afraid she'll find out they forgot to enrol her. 3 – Global Warming The team goes all hands on deck when an unexpected heat wave brings more people to the shore. Max calls in a bomb threat to de-escalate the situation. 4 – Haunted House Bored out of his mind for spring cleaning, Sebastian draws a red mark on an old map while searching the lost and found box, giving the team an easy way out of their chores. 5 – The Four Horsemen After receiving an unexpected dinner invitation to the American Embassy, Keelan finds himself leading the group to a meeting on climate change. 6 – The Interview After seeing Keelan celebrating his dead cat's birthday, Carla convinces Max and Sebastian to host a recruitment day to find him a partner. 7 – Insomnia Max and Carla take an experimental drug supposed to replace sleep. Keelan moves in with Sebastian and his parents while his apartment is being fumigated. 8 – Touring Test Carla, Keelan and Sebastian are bewildered by Max' girlfriend and start questioning whether she's actually human. 9 – Coming out Sebastian embraces his dog-hating persona to participate on a local TV show. Max signs up clients pretending to be his agent and Keelan helps Carla reconnect with her parents. 10 – Carla: The Lifeguard. Max tries to sabotage the summer team as they take over the operations. Keelan and Sebastian challenge them to prove who's the better side. Meanwhile Carla actually saves someone.
