Synopsis/Details
Alfie, a young physics graduate student, invents a space engine that will bring the universe to humanity's doorstep. He needs to make his family proud as he feels like a failure no matter his accomplishments. Gily is his partner, his prime support. She is his child's mother and becomes a key figure in Alfie's success. Bobby, another physicist, is Alfie's best friend who partners with him to build this engine. Dalia is Alfie's and Gily's daughter.
The world finds out there is a rogue planet heading towards Earth and it is inhabited by advanced intelligent life. The world expects the aliens to make contact. Alfie and a grown-up Dalia among others travel to this planet in a spaceship powered by Alfie's superluminal warp engine. The problem is that the ship because of the physics, cannot return to Earth. It is a suicide mission. Alfie counts on making contact with the aliens and have them recognize the ship's predicament and risk their benevolence and advanced technology to return Alfie and the others safely to Earth.
Alfie finds out the universe cares little for his need to receive validation, and things don't turn out as Alfie, and the world, expected.
