Synopsis/Details
Becoming the best in your field requires a commitment of time, a willingness to accept failures, and personal sacrifices. In pursuit of becoming the best, some will find themselves inexperienced in certain aspects of cultural and social behavior. And if you’re a coke-snorting egotistical wildlife expert with no equal, you’ll find yourself in quite the pickle when your business is on the verge of bankruptcy. That’s where we find Bodhi Tanner, a crass Australian animal recovery specialist living in Florida and on dire straits. Given his life-long dedication to animal research, he lacks the characteristics of a high-functioning member of society. The absence of empathy, emotional I.Q., and business acumen allows him to blend in with other Floridians, but it has also created financial instability and a carousel of relationship failures. His deficiencies are balanced by an undeniable affection for animals, an unwavering can-do attitude, and a paternal instinct to those close to him. Too proud to reach out to his famous family members for help, Bodhi leverages his expertise to recruit a workforce of interns to bolster his bottom line. His newly recruited team consist of VERONICA, a militant group leader who is the lion of the pride; FRANKLIN, a stuttering anti-social computer genius with anxiety issues; DANI, a reckless non-binary animal lover with an aggressive attitude; AMBER, a well-off woman whose boisterous nature always gets her in trouble; and CHILA, an ex-football player with anterograde amnesia. The interns bring qualities and characteristics that push Bodhi to grow socially and emotionally. As he learns from them, they learn from him, bartering to advance self-interests along with safeguarding the animals they swore to protect. When a wildlife smuggling operation comes to light, Bodhi must bring the group together to solve the case, conquer their inner demons, and embrace who they really are.
