Synopsis/Details
In a slightly altered reality, software is costly and unreliable. And labor has never been cheaper. In lieu of algorithms, LYFEworks secretly employs low-wage Curators to monitor, manipulate, and develop Users on behalf of clients. But Users have no idea they're being watched by real humans. ROSIE, a struggling Curator, has one last shot to keep her job. She's tasked with getting the stalling JAE to grow before she turns 30 - when User value to clients diminishes. But no matter what Rosie tries, Jae fails to grow. So the desperate Rosie breaks the rules and calls Jae directly. Unclear who or what Rosie is, Jae's nonetheless captivated by Rosie's omniscient power. She accepts Rosie's help - changing her life for the better and providing Rosie the economic security she's been seeking. Meanwhile, FRAN - the cunning Head of People Operations - learns the company is developing synthetic alternatives to his human Curators. Searching for strategies to keep his Curators competitive, he stumbles upon Rosie's secret - and spots opportunity.
