Synopsis/Details
George Marquez, a successful New York City stockbroker, has endured
catastrophic and life-changing events from witnessing 9/11 firsthand, to losing his
father and his grandmother, then almost losing everything in the stock market
crash of 2008. Tired of feeling hopeless, he makes a move to Philadelphia in search
of a new start. After securing a position with a real estate firm, he meets Diane
Ellis, a well-accomplished African American banker. In this interracial relationship,
George soon learns that there is so much more to life outside of himself as their
love grows, but he also struggles to overcome his prejudices in order to embrace
true love. Suddenly, Diane’s health begins to fail, a result of diabetes and kidney
failure. George loses her but realizes that loss is not the end, but simply a way to
propel us forward into the next journey of our lives. In the process, George
becomes a legal guardian for Diane’s beloved son, Eric, who suffers from bipolar
disorder. In Diane's last dying words, she asked George to take care of her son.
“Philadelphia Love Story” is a transformational true story about the power of love,
letting go of the past, and allowing hearts to embrace the future. Ultimately, this
story is of one man’s journey from a life of pain, suffering, and success to finding
true love, happiness, and new meaning with one extraordinary woman.
