Synopsis/Details
Tanisha has her work cut out for her as a transgender woman owning a popular gay bar in the U.S. South, while also trying to fit love and relaxation into her day. Her lead bar keep, Hector, a stereotypical effeminate bartender, may work her nerves, but he holds it down. As Tanisha tries to navigate her shortage of staff, and balance her business and her life, she find herself surrounded by the silliness of her rather colorful patrons. When uptight Shelly stops in the bar with her fiance, she admittedly thinks she's a little higher class than the establishment, instantly making herself enemies in the bar.
Later on, Dante finds himself lovestruck over a hot guy in the corner of the bar, but can't bring himself to say hello. The slick and confident Farah, and the snarky, overdramatic Christian try to encourage him to act on his crush, but he isn't confident enough. When bar staffer Jeanine comes in on her day off, she draws the attention of her beau Wanda, although they're in a fight. Jeanine checks in on Dante, and tries to push him into action by getting the man's attention. Meanwhile, it's clear she's still thinking about Wanda.
After Shelly realizes she's not so much better than everybody there, it seems her magic might be what's needed to bring Wanda and Jeanine back into each other's good side, and perhaps provide Tanisha with much needed relief.
NOTE: Our characters do not rise above stereotypes. They embrace them in their wholeness.
