Synopsis/Details
Synopsis/Treatment for Reclamation Rewind By John Pluchino This is a story about the life of Jesse Chi Leo, a thirty year old former college basketball star who was involved in a tragic car accident after college graduation. The story spans approximately 30 years from (1969-1990), as we first see Jesse as an eight year old playing basketball with his older half-brothers, Danny and Paul. We are also briefly introduced to John ChiLeo, forty three, watching their play while drinking a beer from the back porch. John ChiLeo is Athletic Director and Assistant Basketball Coach for a local University, We then see Jesse ten years later, preparing for the State Basketball Championship. Unfortunately, there is domestic turmoil at home as his father has become an alcoholic. His mother Christine, forty four, has reached her limit and asked the father to leave. After winning the Championship Game, Jesse is recruited by North Carolina and he attends there for the next four years, culminating in a championship in his senior year. He has continued his relationship with his high school sweetheart, Samantha, and spends the summer after graduation with her. He is drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers but is involved in a tragic car accident in which he was the driver. This accident changes the course of his life, injuring him badly, and preventing him an NBA career. Also, it kills his older half-brother Danny. The following seven years are a travesty for Jesse, deteriorating into substance abuse and alcoholism. He is basically nomadic, he squanders most of his money as we see him seven years later living with a much older woman. His life finally hit rock bottom and his female roommate gives him an ultimatum in which he must check himself into a Rehab Clinic. We then see Jesse back home staying with his mother and her boyfriend Andy. Andy acts as a mentor to Jesse as he encourages him to restore relationships with his older brother and father. It is also revealed that Jesse has a daughter Jennifer, unknown to him, which was conceived with his high school and college sweetheart Samantha during the summer after graduation from North Carolina. Also, he is informed that his father is dying from cancer Thus, we witness Jesse reclaiming his life, healing his relationships and forging a new path for himself, through forgiveness, understanding, compassion and commitment.
