Synopsis/Details
Detective Tacitus Hanshaw of the LAPD and his partner Detective Tyler Vankirk come across the murder of young man by the name of Marco Balladares, who has been killed at his place of work. From the very beginning both officers realize the murder is not what it seems to be and quickly surmise someone has staged the murder to look like a “robbery gone bad”.
As evidence begins to pour in on the murder from forensics, the coroner, and eye witnesses accounts, the officers discover that Marco’s death is the result of him witnessing his boss receiving an illegal kidney transplant at the Tuffin Family Warehouse for Mattresses.
Since Marco’s little brother used to ride with him occasionally for mattress deliveries, the same “meat merchants” have
ordered their professional asset to kill Jovanny Balladares as well. With the rise of catalytic converter thefts in Los Angeles and nationwide, Hanshaw and Vankirk unravel the connection of a barter agreement between rogue elements of The People’s Republic of China and a brilliant, and yet unscrupulous mechanical engineer by the name of Bevin Gallagher.
Because the demand for Rhodium, a precious metal in the oxidizing of vehicle emissions is so high worldwide, the Chinese
are more than willing to supply human organs for a precious swap of catalytic converters or CATS as they are known by law enforcement. To no one’s surprise the FED’s and CIA want Hanshaw and Vankirk to turn over their investigation "In the interest of National Security.” Unfortunately for the FED’s a unprincipled FBI agent is in league with Bevin Gallagher and the Chinese, so that they stay one foot ahead of federal authorities.
Although they have surrendered their case to the U.S. Government, Hanshaw and Vankirk have uncovered startling new evidence that causes them to confront Gallagher at his office called “Gallagher Aerodrones and Robotics” (GAR) in the Santa Monica Mountains. After a wild shoot out, Gallagher jettisons away in Flybot #1 which is a four propeller manned
drone. Just when it appears Gallagher has gotten away and is in the wind, Detective Hanshaw jumps into Flybot #2 and chases him through the Santa Monica Mountains to his eventual rendezvous point in Pacific Palisades. The flight scene of these two drones will be reminiscent of the speeder chase scenes in the forest of Endor in 1983’s “The Empire
Strikes Back” – but based in reality, while justice is being served
