Synopsis/Details
Late twenty-first century Ireland. The globe has been ravaged by a mind-altering plague, old alliances are dead, cities are smouldering piles of ash. For all the islanders know, they are alone. Aggressive and dull mutant creatures, children of the plague, wander the island in the thousands. By this time, they are thought of as more of a nuisance, slow moving bullets. Saoirse and John are two survivors of the plague who live in an isolated fortress in the West of Ireland, cut off from the rest of the world. John is a scout, while Saoirse repairs equipment for the quartermaster. As a result of the plague, all the survivors have a shaky memory of the last few years. Saoirse, however, remembers very little about anything, questioning even her name. Things have been quiet for a few weeks, with little contact at the fort’s walls. John finds himself constantly reminding Saoirse and others that they’re not in the clear and that the creatures tend to come and go in waves. Saoirse begins to experience vivid visions, warning her to RUN. When the monsters return with a vengeance, the pair are forced from their home and out into the wild, where they're rescued from a grisly death by the mysterious Hunter, a blood-soaked army ranger with a talent for butchering the deadliest creatures alive. Through no choice of their own, the unravelling Saoirse and paranoid John join the Hunter's party as he hurtles towards a deadly confrontation with a new existential threat.

The Writer: James Hogan

My name is James Hogan, I'm from Dublin, Ireland, and I've been writing scripts part-time 2017. My settings and characters are inspired by my homeland of Ireland, especially the Irish countryside which I believe holds untapped potential for the production of horror/thriller. There's something unsettling about just how quiet rural Ireland can be, but it also has a sort of haunting beauty that rarely comes through in its on-screen depictions (see The Wind That Shakes the Barley or The Banshees of Inisherin for this done right). The people are renowned for their friendliness, but the state was also built on a foundation of bitter division and drenched in blood, north and south, and parts of… Go to bio
