For the lowly hermit watching the night sky above Mt. Gilmour, the constellation carved into the mountain’s rock walls recounts the tale of a child who will wage war between heaven and hell! When BILLY (12) fails to escape the child’s lair deep in the bowels of the mountain, he’s quickly claimed by the terrifying Vampire-like jackal known as FEAR. While the unexplained disappearance is another blow to a crippling town struggling to live with the loss of yet another child; for the local law it’s a battle to maintain the community’s faith at odds with the rantings of the local Priest. For MICHAEL (19), however, Mt. Gilmour conceals the mystery behind his brother DAVID’s death, which warrants his reckless attempts to climb the beast in search of answers. When his persistence pays off and he discovers the mountain lair, it’s finding evidence of Billy’s last whereabouts that galvanises Michael to arm his posse and launch an assault! Entering the mountain lair, Michael and his team are lured by Fear and his associate to find Billy trapped in a possessed nightmare! However it’s upon discovering the town’s missing children in the same Vampiric state, that Michael challenges Fear who retaliates commanding the children to attack; with Michael managing to escape while his team are captured. Recovered by the hermit who’s been watching his efforts, it’s a regression, which reveals Michael’s battle against Fear across several lifetimes in Rome, Transylvania, and the battlefields of WWII; that explains the endless rivalry between two old foes. When his girlfriend, JOANIE, stumbles on the hermit’s shack in search of Michael, she challenges the idea that he’s a resurrected soul. But her doubt is quickly replaced by a new apprehension when the truth of Fear’s demonic rise to power is revealed, along with Joanie’s place as one of seven angels destined to stop him. While the town is drawn together finalising preparations for its annual dance, SERGEANT JEFFREYS, the town Sheriff, surmises that the hermit could be behind the disappearance of the children, Michael and his posse. Led inevitably to his shack, the possibility that the Sherriff’s only son could still be alive among the 12,000 lives stolen by the ANTICHRIST convinces the rescue party to prepare for battle! As townsfolk gather for the opening chords of the first dance, Michael and team go to WAR! The ensuing confrontation to stop Fear’s transformation unleashing a storm thrashing the hermit’s attempts to arm the peak, while Jeffreys and his men fight the RISING DEAD! When the peak finally blows, delaying the ceremony, the team must battle the very people they’ve come to save against the rising inferno from the gates of Hell, while Fear unleashes his 12,000 soldiers on the unsuspecting townsfolk. While the power of God erupts cleaving the cathedral in town; swallowing Joanie’s mother under its altar, Michael finally drowns Fear with a flamethrower breaking the spell over everyone. The race to the exit from Fear’s engulfed form exploding into the night sky to bring everything to a standstill. With families reunited the hermit warns Michael and Joanie to prepare for the next round. Later, praying at the feet of Mt. Gilmour, the local Minister is the last to remain behind, when he’s swallowed by the earth to find himself face-to-face with the statue of the Whore of Babylon. Terrified by the echo of a WITCH’S laugh, the Minister is confronted by Joanie’s mother who speaks to him with a voice from Hell, ‘Don’t be afraid Father. I am your salvation!'
