Synopsis/Details
ROCCO, a German shepherd pup, eavesdrops on a conversation between his father GEORGE and the kingpin of the dog underworld, SAMSON, a rottweiler. Samson tries to force George into giving up the location of the Fountain of Life. George refuses. Rocco puts himself in a tight spot when he is captured by LIMBO, a nasty looking Doberman. George attacks Samson in order to free his son but in return he suffers a terrible fate. Rocco barely escapes the pursuing dogs when he is picked up by a POLICE OFFICER who takes him to TOM’S animal sanctuary, a safe house for animals with problems. HOSKINS, a deaf/blind Scottish terrier, leads Rocco into all sorts of trouble while MONA, a cat with a crippled leg, takes care of her kitten TINKY. LORENZO a “brain dead” lizard, and MEEKS, a Jamaican parrot with narcolepsy, are friends. ZAMMA is a chameleon who has no control over his colors and turns into the most outrageous hues all the time. HOBBLE is a turtle with a difference. He is highly intelligent as well as a sprinter. JACK and MIKE are Australian fleas working in the background on “wildlife” shows. Rocco is brought to Tom’s but refuses to interact with the other misfits. Samson has plans for Rocco and attacks the sanctuary. Unfortunately a fire erupts and all the animals have to make a run for their lives. The animals demand an explanation from Rocco as to why the dogs are after him. Since they have nowhere to go they decide that Rocco will take them to the Fountain of Life. Samson uses expert trackers to find the group but decides to follow rather than to attack. Meeks causes Lorenzo to loose his tail in a crash-landing where, afterward, Meeks gets grounded due to unsafe flying. Something watches them from the bushes following their every move. Crossing a raging river proves to be a tedious task. Tinky looses her grip and falls into the river from which Rocco saves her. ART, a larger-than-life wild pig, needs their help to free him from a hunter's trap. Hobble, being the genius he is, thinks of a plan to rescue the helpless pig. Samson and gang run into big trouble when RALPH teases two little bear cubs. Mother Bear makes them tremble with fear whilst running for it. Art takes the gang to Queeny’s Inn where they meet his mother QUEENY along with a whole crowd of other creatures. Art gives Hobble a whistle to use in times of danger. Continuing their journey the following day, Hoskins gets sidetracked from the group and lands in the middle of two hungry wolves, HENNO and BUFF. Running for his life, Hoskins finds the group again, placing all of them in danger. Trapped, they make ready for the worse but DOBSON, a bobcat Lieutenant, and his men save them. Dobson offers to escort them through the treacherous Dragon’s Pass. Mona slips and falls over the edge into an endless abyss. Dobson goes after her and "Operation Cliffhanger" commences. Tinky spots a rope on the other side of the rockface, but who will retrieve it? Lorenzo scales down the rock to check on the status of his friends. Meeks is the only one who can fly over and get the rope. He is a hero when he makes it back and the two dangling bodies are brought to safety. Outside the cave in the Shongiwe Valley they make camp. It’s clear that Rocco struggles with the memory of his father. Samson’s plans seem to be selfish and don’t include the other dogs. The secret temple is within their reach. Rocco introduces his friends to the Shialin monks who happen to be a group of Siamese cats. MASTER GOBI welcomes them into the temple but LU TOO thinks they are a risk to their sacred place. At the fountain, Rocco receives a pleasant surprise when his father appears alive and recovering. Samson and gang make an entry and a major fight starts. The monks handle themselves well but are outnumbered. Dobson and men join the fight and things even up. Victory swings in favor of the misfits when Art and his friends arrive. In the end, treachery gets the best of Samson and Limbo. Entering the fountain heals the friends. All but Hobble, who believes he is better off as he is now. Some stay behind to start a new life as Rocco and his father head home. Jack and Mike’s documentary, aboard Dobson's torso, ends when disaster strikes. Dobson scratches an itch, sending the crew ducking for their lives. In the process the equipment is destroyed and Jack and Mike are forced to stop filming.

The Writer: Robert Kriel

Born and raised in the industrial town of Vanderbijlpark on 25th May 1976 I started my life journey. After high school my parents decided that studying drama is not a good idea so they tried me in engineering. I refused to do so and I studied a diploma in purchasing management. After all the ruckus I ended up in the fast world of IT which I now want to trade for the world of filmmaking which is and was and will always be my first passion. Having had a passion for making and telling stories as a form of entertainment since the age of six I decided to pursue this passion in the form of writing. Although nothing I wrote has been produced to date it’s still early days and time is plentiful to… Go to bio
