Synopsis/Details
Irene is a grumpy, friendless old woman who lives in a tower block. Her only companion is Ruby, her faithful old cat.
When a raging fire sweeps through the block, Irene is rescued by some young men, Tariq and Yusuf, returning from their local mosque.
There is no time to search for Ruby and Irene is convinced that her beloved pet has perished in the fire.
Now totally alone, homeless and with all her cherished memories destroyed in the fire, Irene just wants to die, yet no far away a dirty old stray cat is brought into local vet's surgery.
Abby the vet soon realises that this manky old cat has survived one of the greatest disasters of the modern age and is determined to reunite Ruby with her owner - if her owner is still alive.
Abby soon discovers that tracking down Irene is all but impossible as the authorities haven't got a clue where she is, so Abby visits the scene of the tragedy and leaves a message on the wall of remembrance that has sprung-up there.
Tariq and Yusuf see Abby's message and, with their help, Ruby and Irene are happily reunited.
