EXCERPTS FROM THE READER'S REPORT ON “SAVING MARK TWAIN” FROM THE AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL SCRIPT COMPETITION:
"Yes, the plot is very strong. I really loved this script. It’s a beautiful, fantastical jaunt...The pacing is fantastic. [...] you do such a good job across the board[...]These people were such a delight. Sam [Mark Twain] feels so real. His frustrations, his anger, his humor, his love. All of it great. His family aren’t just window dressing...As you can tell, I loved this script. It’s the last script I’m reading for the festival this year, and it’s comfortably my favorite. There’s a richness of character and human behavior here that’s hard to come by. It’s got a keen sense of history, yet you don’t use it as a crutch. These people behave like real people. I think this script could be made as is [...] and it would be a great film for everyone to enjoy...It’s got a very broad appeal..[...] I’m very glad I got assigned this because this script is warm, considered, funny, bittersweet... Loved it loved it loved it."
