Synopsis/Details
Scout’s Honor tells a heartwarming, hilarious, and moving story of a father/daughter crime duo -- Dash and Edie.
The film begins with Edie, a mischievous 11 year old scamming unsuspecting passengers out of cash on the New York Subway with her BFF, Coco. Edie wants more than anything to get out of the Bronx, with aspirations of visiting all the Disneylands in existence, but she’s a little girl trapped in an unfair adult world. Eventually they get spotted by Metro Security and the two of them hightail it all the way back home where Edie runs into her dad, Dash.
Dash was recently released from prison and is attempting to start over. He’s got nowhere else to go but home and discovers his ex-girlfriend Diamond disappeared, leaving Edie all on her lonesome. Dash is new to the whole fatherhood thing and Edie proves herself to be quite the handful. Before the two can bond, a sinister figure from Dash’s past resurfaces. Striker, a drug supplier who specializes in selling cocaine, arrives and orders Dash to go back to selling his product for him while making a threat on Edie’s life. Dash has no choice but to acquiesce to Striker’s unreasonable demands and deadlines despite his desires to get out of the drug trade.
Dash eventually hatches the brilliant idea of using Edie as a way to move Striker’s cocaine after seeing a group of “Pennyscouts” -- Girlscouts -- selling boxes of cookies. Dash enlists his Edie’s help to form a Pennyscouts troop so he can sell drugs out in the open and hopefully scrounge up enough cash to get out of the drug game for good. He promises that if Edie helps, she will get her wish and be able to visit all the Disneylands. Edie becomes his partner in crime and reaches out to some old “frienemies” -- Alyssa, Rachel, and Daniela -- to help bring the criminal scheme into fruition. Once their troop is formed, sales skyrocket and old friendships are rekindled. Dash and Edie start to reconnect. It becomes very apparent to the two of them what the most important thing is -- family. The only question is, will they be able to pull off their brilliant plan? Or will they remain stuck in the Bronx, or worse?
