Synopsis/Details
We open up on Adhara Bonnet, a tough-as-nails Marine
Sergeant, as she holds her own in an arena fight. As she
leaves the arena victorious, she is greeted by a brawny,
violent man, Gunnery Sergeant McKinney. He informs Adhara
that she is being assigned the first marine in her squad.
Adhara goes to meet the new blood, Jared Carter, at the
barracks. She shows him the Cryner Chamber, where
futuristic weapons, repairs, and 8-foot tall killing
machine robots are held. As the two become acquainted, we
learn Adhara’s father was a Gunnery Sergeant but was
killed mysteriously.
McKinney assigns new blood a covert mission to test their
skills, giving Adhara access to her full squad. We meet
Johnson – a massive, intimidating guy with a scar across
his face – and Draxler - a skinny, brainy outsider type.
The squad begins their mission and is taken to a warehouse
to retrieve items. However, as Adhara tries to locate a
missing girl in the warehouse, we learn that McKinney has
designed the mission as a trap, and he tries to kill
Adhara, shooting her down. However, Jared walks in on the
action and seemingly takes out McKinney in retaliation.
We cut to a hospital room, where a groggy Adhara wakes up
to Jared watching over her. We lear
father originally wanted to use the robots, and mech suits
to help humans colonize space.
Adhara begins to learn how to use mech suits and meets the
rest of the team Jared’s put together. The team begins to
raid warehouses where robots are stored to try and uncover
McKinney.
We cut to McKinney as he is grilled by one of his
superiors, Sergeant Donaldson. He makes it known that he is
becoming suspicious of McKinney, and that he expects the
newly rogue group taking out robot warehouses to be dealt
with. McKinney begins to plan how to strike back at
Adhara’s unit.
Adhara and the squad go to take down another warehouse and
discover it abandoned. While suspicious of ulterior
motives, they take a chance and take all of the robot gear
to their base.
Back at their base, the group celebrates. Adhara and Jared
go off on their own, and Adhara thanks Jared for saving her
life. We learn more about their backgrounds and discover
that McKinney was a sort of father figure to Adhara before
he betrayed her. The two begin a romantic affair, and make
love, possibly losing their virginities to one another by
the looks of how passionate the lovemaking is.
Meanwhile, McKinney decides to make an attack on American
soil to bait Adhara. McKinney’s squad of robots begins
attacking monuments in DC but avoids actually hurting
anyone. Adhara and the unit show up to de-escalate the
situation, but Jackson’s identity is discovered, and his
photograph taken by one of McKinney’s spies during the
conflict. McKinney overdubs a threat to the UN and the US
over the footage of Johnson, and formulates a plan to
spread the footage to media outlets, and label the unit as
having connections to a multinational terrorist group.
Knowing they need to respond before the media is keyed in
on their identities, Adhara’s unit decide to strike another
monument in hopes of drawing out McKinney himself.
Meanwhile, Draxler works on a program that has the
capabilities of potentially taking control of McKinney’s
robot units.
Adhara’s unit arrives at Times Square and begins
destroying property, being careful to avoid any civilian
injuries. McKinney brings a unit of Marines to respond to
the attack, and a massive conflict ensues. In the chaos,
Johnson is tragically killed.
However, Adhara’s units begin to take the lead, and Adhara
takes the chance to face McKinney one on one. They fight
with all of their might, and McKinney ends up in a prone
state where Adhara has the chance to kill him. McKinney
taunts Adhara that she will change if she kills him, but
Adhara simply lets Jared take out McKinney, knowing that
she would regret pulling the trigger herself. With the
chaos died down, the remaining units and soldiers begin
cleaning up the streets and helping the wounded.
Donaldson meets with Adhara and Jared, thanking them for
exposing McKinney, and helping to potentially save the
world from his diabolical plans. Donaldson tells Adhara
about her father and gives her a non-combat job in
research and prevention so she can work on helping her
father’s dreams of a better future a reality. Donaldson
salutes Adhara and Jared and leaves the room. As soon as
they are alone, Adhara and Jared celebrate their victory
with a deep, passionate kiss.
