Synopsis/Details
Mary-Ann, a 21-year-old with a vibrant imagination and a quiet soul, spends her days crafting whimsical worlds of trolls and winged creatures called Sky Dwellers. Socially anxious and misunderstood, she avoids college and the outside world, taking solace in her drawings and the small, strange rituals that bring her comfort. Her older sister, Nicole, both stern and loving, struggles to guide her while managing her own life’s chaos.
When Nicole encourages her to enter an art competition, Mary-Ann hesitantly submits a drawing — and is shocked to learn she’s one of the finalists. But when things don’t go as hoped, Mary-Ann’s world collapses. Through her heartbreak, and with the quiet support of her sister and her own imagination, she finds the strength to keep creating. In the end, it's not about winning, but believing in herself enough to step into the light.
Sky Dwellers is a tender, quirky coming-of-age short about creativity, sisterhood, and the quiet bravery of choosing to begin again.
