Sling Wreck

A young African American boy, Christian, growing up in the projects, lives with his mother, older brother and younger sister. His older brother is a part of the local gang that robs and deals drugs to make a living. The bond between Christian and his brother is not strong to begin with, and his older brother always tries to tell him that they will run the streets together one day, once he is older. Christian has always been a little hesitant about joining his brother in the criminal life. When Christian goes to highschool, he meets another boy who tells him about how he wants to become a cop. Christian suddenly falls in love with the idea of becoming a police officer, and realizes that he has found his passion. Jesse and the gang members try to rob drug dealers one night, things take a turn when the drug dealers friends knock at the door. Suspecting that the crew is being held up, the friends of the drug dealers go around back and start shooting into the house. Rich ends up shooting Jay (main drug dealer) in the stomach, and Jesse almost gets a bullet to his head, but he is able to duck in time. When Christian tells his family that he wants to become a cop, his mother is fond of the idea, but his brother is against it. One night, his brother Jesse comes home drunk and attacks his mother, and Christian defends her, severely beating up his older brother in the process. Jesse flees the house, and he stays gone for several days. Jesse eventually comes back, and apologizes to his mother, who forgives him. Christian ends up going off to the police academy, and his relationship with his older brother slowly begins to dwindle down to practically nothing. Christian eventually graduates from the academy, and begins dating a woman he met at the academy. Christian and his new girl find an apartment together, and life seems to be normal for him. One night, him and his partner get a call about a gas station hold up. When Christian arrives to the scene, there are already several cruisers there. Christian sees his older brother walk out of the back of the gas station convenience store and tells him to put his hands behind his head. Jesse laughs, and tells his brother than he has done a good job, and lets his little brother cuff him. While Christian is cuffing his older brother, another gang member comes up behind him and shoots him in the head. Jesse goes into shock from seeing what had happened, and 2 police officers gun down the man that shot Christian. Jesse ends up going to jail for 4 months, and when he gets out, he goes back to live with his mother and sister. Movie ends with Jesse coming home, his mother sitting on the porch looking depressed. When Jesse looks to her for comfort, she does not look back, indicating the strain that Jesse has put on their relationship, Christian dying being the last straw.
