Synopsis/Details
Stephanie Johnson has just begun her sophomore year of high school. She is intelligent and kind, but also timid and shy. Like most kids her age, she simply wants to fit in and be normal. However, Stephanie knows she is different from the other girls in her school. Despite having multiple boys vying for her attention, she only has eyes for one person: a girl named Jacqueline. From their first meeting, Stephanie cannot get Jacqueline out of her mind, and one day in detention, they share a kiss.
Fate keeps trying to pull these two apart and life keeps getting in the way, but their love for each other never fades. After they both go through a series of failed relationships, they finally decide to stop denying their feelings for each other and be together. After spending the night together and worrying Stephanie’s parents, Stephanie comes out to her family. Her mother takes it a bit hard, but her dad tells her he loves her no matter what.
In her senior year, Stephanie learns she is accepted into Berkeley. She is ecstatic, but going would mean moving away from Jacqueline. She has a huge fight with her mother about the difficult decision she is facing, but Jacqueline encourages her to pursue her future. They promise to make it work and to stay together.
Seven years later, Stephanie returns home for Christmas with her new girlfriend, Mary. Stephanie sees Jacqueline in the crowd and follows her into a bar. Jacqueline performs a song about heartache and Stephanie cries over their lost love. They talk, both obviously still heartbroken about how things ended. Stephanie goes out and lies in the snow reading a poem Jacqueline once wrote her about the uncertainty of the future as she stares up at the falling snow.
“Life goes on, time goes by, so we carry on until we die.”
