Synopsis/Details
Thana Dunne, a female assassin with a perfect kill record, finds herself in a quandary. Thinking she has killed a mob boss, she is instead framed by Detective Arnold Verrat, with whom she had fallen in love. But Thana avoids jail time as a judge frees her since he owed her a favor. A man who was blackmailing the judge somehow disappeared - permanently. An enraged Verrat confronts Thana, who turns the tables on him. Though she discovered Verrat's duplicity too late, she still had enough time to discover his nefarious dealings with drug lords. She exacts revenge by making sure Verrat goes to jail. Thana still needs cash as Verrat also bankrupted her while posing as a stockbroker. Against her better judgment, she accepts a contract from Samir "the Bomber" Shefti, a ruthless Albanian gangster. She agrees to assassinate Chase Magnum, an egotistical star of B movies who has angered Samir by sleeping with his wife. Chase thought she was a certified public accountant. Chase isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Thana and Chase end up on a plane with Thana posing as a stunt double for the female star of a film and Chase as the male star. To eliminate Thana, Samir has a bomb planted on the plane. He doesn't want her to find out that he helped Verrat frame her. The plane crashes into the Pacific Ocean and Chase rescues an unconscious Thana by placing her on a detached wing. The two end up on what they think is a deserted island. When Thana gains consciousness, she discovers that Chase saved her life. Awkward. The two go into survival mode, gathering water and food with Thana showing Chase the ropes. When the two get threatened by a jaguar, Thana sets a trap to kill the big cat. The two start building a raft to get off what they believe is an island. Time is of the essence as a nearby volcano is about to erupt. As they work together, an unlikely friendship starts. Chase doesn't know Thana has been hired to kill him - yet. Instead, he starts to fall in love with her. She develops amorous feelings, too, but realizes that creates a serious conflict of interest. When Thana's carry-on washes ashore, Chase opens it and discovers Thana's assassin calling cards - a golden handgun and a photograph of her victim - him. Not surprisingly, he freaks out. He points the gun at Thana, who quickly disarms him and states she has no intention of killing him - yet - as she needs him to help build and sail the raft. She does note that certain circumstances could work in his favor. The two eventually finish the raft and head out onto the ocean. A storm almost capsizes the raft as they struggle to keep it afloat. The waves push them to what they think is salvation. But they soon discover that the waves just pushed them back from where they came. And the volcano has erupted. They barely escape the lava flow. Back on their now dilapidated raft, Chase and Thana hope to find a safe harbor, but with food and water running out, things look bleak. Days pass and no sign of land. Finally, they see an island. But before getting on shore, they must avoid a shark. Chase again comes to the rescue. Once the two are on land, a cannibal confronts them, but they quickly discover the cannibal is an actor as a film is being shot on the island. Thana and Chase go their separate ways, but not before coming to the realization that if they were really stranded on an island, how did the jaguar get there? Thana eventually shows up at Chase's bungalow. She wonders why he hasn't hired a bodyguard and he points out she would have killed him anyway. She then points out that one of the circumstances she previously mentioned has come into play. She discovered that Samir planted the bomb in an attempt to kill her and such an act nullifies the contract. She also takes care of Samir by blowing him up. Thana tells Chase she's through with killing and proposes the two start a relationship. Chase is wary of the proposition for good reason, but it looks like an offer he can't refuse. He also doesn't want to refuse it. It seems Cupid has fired his own weapons.
