Synopsis/Details
BEN(32) is a struggling writer from NY living in Hollywood to pursue his career as a Hollywood screenwriter. Before the owners of the house he’s sitting for leave, they give him two simple rules – the woman of the house tells him there will be no guests of any kind and the man of the house tells him to have fun and get laid. Upon that, they leave with their Hollywood entourage. All Ben wants to do is finish his script and have some fun up in the hills. Before you know it, his gay fashion stylist buddy HOLLIS(30) moves in and convinces him to have some fun. Against Ben’s better judgment, a huge party is thrown at the house and some sketchy leftovers in MIGGS and SCOTTY wake up, help them clean up the mess and turn into housemates. Also at the party, is the fast-talking talent manager MELANIE who sets Ben up with a gig, taking care of a young British starlet EMILY’s(21). Suddenly Ben has all kinds of characters living at and passing through the house. Emily is under the impression he’s a big time screenwriter. Hollis treats the house as his own and things start to get out of hand as Ben’s forced to dog-sit for a former hard-nosed ex-boss MAX. Ben is so crazed that he decides to write a script about what’s actually happening to him, which causes him to really spiral out of control. Amongst all the chaos, can Ben ever have fun, get laid, finish his script or more importantly – can he get everyone out of the house and get it cleaned up before the owners return? “Sunset Plaza” is a dramatic comedy that captures the absurdity of Hollywood through the eyes of an outsider who so desperately wants to be a part of it. The ironies are abundant and real. The characters who pass through Ben’s life while the owners are away, fully capture Hollywood bottom feeders pursuing the American Dream the only way they know how. To top it all off, the house owner and Hollywood power player BARBARA(50’s), appears to be tracking Ben’s every move inside a secret video editing room, with a team of editors/producers and Barbara’s cute and concerned assistant, JESSICA (20’s), who just so happens to be the love of Ben’s life.
