Synopsis/Details
FORMAT: TV Pilot, suitable for TV/Cable. This is the proverbial Walk a Mile in My Shoes. This is a serial TV drama with each episode introducing a different pair whose lives are switched. Clues to the mystery will unfold over the length of the series.
PILOT LOGLINE: MILES OVERMAN is an LA finance guru promised more than he can deliver and dangerous people await results. An unexpected body switch with a simple herder will delay the inevitable for twenty-four hours. Cholon the Mongolian herder will adjust to the hustle and the sudden violence of LA. Miles will struggle with the simplicity of an honest existence.
SETTING: Los Angeles, Mongolia Steppe
MILES OVERMAN is self-centered playboy executive in financial trouble. He borrowed money from an international crime syndicate to fund the next big technology breakthrough. His creditors send a minder WELLMAN; a smooth gentleman with malice in his pleasant tone. Miles goes to bed worrying about surviving the next day.
CHOLON is a simple herder resisting modernization in Teshig, Mongolia. He is a man content with his life; except he has a boisterous independent sister who resists all offers of marriage. He goes to bed thinking about his son BAT winning the horse race tomorrow.
Miles awakes as Cholon on the vast steppe to horses, camels and sheep and a life at a pace that moves with nature. He stumbles out the Yurt to encounter Cholon’s sister KHONGI who is pissed at him. Miles, the man who can sell anything to anyone decides to fake it until he knows what is happening.
Cholon awakes as Miles to life in a 17th floor condo in Los Angeles, screaming for his wife ZAYA. EVA the Latina housekeeper becomes his anchor. He immediately starts a plan to return home; but is greeted by Wellman, who will stay close to him until Miles’s problems are resolved.
Cholon saves Miles’s operation, but his bad impersonation is quickly discovered. He is a man from the steppes on the run in LA from men with guns.
Miles has no skills for the new environment. Honesty, truth, simplicity are not his forte. He gets side-tracked by Khongi while in her brother’s body. Cholon is supposed accept marriage proposals for Khongi today, but Miles wants this woman for himself. Zaya, the quiet one sees through the façade. She wants her husband back and decides to help Miles return so Cholon can come home.
EPISODE 2
A story – Grace and Anong
Second Switch: Grace Whitfield – RCMP British Columbia. One of the first Daketh women in the force, she is dedicated to end the prejudice of her environment. The RCMP treats Native Canadians with little respect. Missing native women are not a priority, murders are not investigated. Anong will drop into this fight for human rights. But this woman of the martial arts of Thailand can cope. In her new body she feels the freedom, the power of the position.
Anong Tangtrongchit, Thailand. Today is her wedding day. This is a forced marriage to a wealthy man. She has been dreading this day. But Grace will not get married today, she has women at home to save. She wants out. Her new body has skills. This wedding will be more Royal Rumble than celebration. Rich family vs a poor family with Ong Bak skills. Muay Thai for the second course.
B story: Miles and Cholon
Miles returns to Mongolia as himself trying to woo a woman who does not know he exists. He has a wrestling match with Cholon. Khongi, however is a bigger challenge. She has no intention of being anyone’s mail order bride. Cholon becomes intrigued with switching. He wants to do it again. Zaya warns both men of consequences.
Episode 3:
Third switch: Rodrigo Garcia – Corrupt policeman in Acapulco Mexico; a rough place to be a policeman. Rodrigo may be utterly corrupt but refuses one heinous request to kill a child. Rodrigo wakes up as Gerald on the day of a fight in Melbourne. He understands fixed fights, he can play the game, but he is no master of a front side kick. It won’t be pleasant.
Gerald J. – Australian MMA fighter – fighting for cash in a crooked system made for TV ratings. He will walk out in the sun in Acapulco to fight for his life with the mob and the cartels who are quite pissed that Rodrigo had the cojones to refuse an order. The cartel has come to share justice, but from the wrong man. People will get hurt.
