Synopsis/Details
Téga Black, the Human Rights and Advocacy director for The Initiative and Movement for Equal Rights (TIMER), is a GLBT activist whose life is fraught with personal and professional challenges. Not one to easily open up, Téga navigates her struggles with vehophobia, dystychiphobia, and adenomyosis while mourning the loss of her queer brother to homophobia and an unborn child due to a homophobic parent. She lives with her husband Tunde, a programmer and app developer, their Labrador, and her brother's ashes. Tunde, her supportive yet emotionally strained husband, is grappling with life's challenges and tries to stay strong for Téga. His brother, Terrence, also a programmer, faces accusations of raping his friend's wife, a charge his business partner and best friend Peter Nwoko supports to further his own agenda. Linda Nwoko, Peter's wife, is entangled in this mess, driven by survival instincts. Meanwhile, Hillary Adebanjo, the prosecutor, seeks to punish Terrence, and Judge Hilda Bankole presides over the case with biases rooted in personal tragedy. Téga’s work with TIMER intensifies when she successfully defends 26 boys accused of homosexuality, only to be thrust into Terrence's case. Her devotion to activism and her brother's memory compels her to represent Terrence, despite pressures from TIMER and Tunde. As Téga delves deeper, she confronts her fears, uncovers truths about her brother-in-law, and endures personal attacks, including vehophobia-induced hallucinations and a near-fatal car accident. The courtroom drama unfolds with Téga battling biases and uncovering lies. Her determination sees Terrence reveal his sexuality on the stand, challenging the prosecution’s narrative. The saga highlights Téga’s relentless pursuit of justice and the personal costs of her activism, concluding with her confronting the betrayals and complexities within her own family and professional life.
