Synopsis/Details
The Andrews Sisters is the true story of American Singers Patty, Maxene, and LaVerne Andrews. This musical biopic takes place from 1925-1966. We hear and see how it all began for them and then become famous. Early on, we see three extremely different personalities starting at grade school and high school ages. We watch how they interact personally and professionally over 41 years. By 1930, they were well known locally in their hometown of Minneapolis, MN. After an audition, they hit the vaudeville circuit nationwide starting in 1931. We go behind the scenes to get an in-depth look at life on the road with them and 22 other performers during the Great Depression. Patty is the youngest and only 14. Over the course of their careers and lives, they performed in order - live local shows, vaudeville, radio, recordings, films, more US shows nationwide, and USO shows overseas (United Service Organizations). They also did radio interviews, TV guest spots, and TV interviews. We see tension build as Patty was given all the solos from the start. This greatly bothers Maxene the most. LaVerne is the peacekeeper between her two sisters throughout their careers and lives. There are many great comical moments as well between the Andrews Sisters and those around them across the US, North Africa, Italy, Australia, and England. New music appealing to the next generation hits the scene, so to keep their record sales ongoing, Decca Records decides Patty will sing 90% of the songs, and her Sisters will be backup singers. Naturally, enormous friction comes to the surface because of this. Later on, a second unexpected announcement is their greatest shock, and we watch each Sister react with raw emotion. This screenplay was written to intentionally not focus on one Sister over the other two. This gives each individual viewer and listener the opportunity to sympathize or even possibly empathize with one of the three. One Sister is not more favored over the others, so the choice is not made for you. The audience decides for themselves which Sister they relate to the most. Or perhaps which one they eventually connect with naturally. Since the majority of people have siblings, most of the audience will be able to relate emotionally. Even though the bulk of them are not entertainers, this screenplay will hit the viewer and listener in the heart, mind, and spirit. I am Valerie Saunders the screenwriter, and I happen to be the middle of three daughters, I had my own Andrews Sisters trio for years, and have an outgoing personality. As I wrote this screenplay, I realized a little part of me is in each Sister. That was not my intention at all. I fell in love with their harmonies and songs. It definitely seems to have been serendipitous for me to write about LaVerne, Maxene, and Patty Andrews, listed from the oldest to the youngest. The Andrews Sisters screenplay has these specific attributes: 1. 90% factual 2. It is in chronological order except the opening scene and part of one scene in the latter half of the screenplay 3. There is no narrator as one is not needed since there are many scenes and dozens of characters

The Writer: Valerie Miss

As a screenwriter, Valerie Saunders pulls from her years of experience as an entertainer - actress, comedienne, vocal impressionist, singer, and dancer. She incorporates them into her scripts. She created shows for different theme parks performed in Arizona at both Rawhides and Old Tucson Studios. Valerie had her own female vocal trio, which performed in Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona. She was inspired by the Andrews Sisters, who had hits from the 1930-50s, one of their biggest being 1941s “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” This inspired her to write the screenplay, The Andrews Sisters. Given its length, it could be a trilogy and/or miniseries. Go to bio
