The Ballad of The Forsaken

Requiem and Virginia are half-sisters raised on the same antebellum plantation, set in 1696, the sisters primarily living in the big house with their biological father whom also happens to be the slave owner of the plantation. One day everything changes, when Virginia is 7 years old she is kidnapped by a group of traveling witches that take her for a decade. Requiem is exiled from the big house from her father and forced to live like the other African Americans in the slave quarters while she begins her hand to hand combat training with her uncle Titus, a champion Mandingo fighter. As a decade passes, Virginia returns home as a teenager with new skills and abilities that scare the plantation overseers and slaves alike. Requiem learns and fears that Virginias connection with the dark arts is gift from the devil until they use those new powers to led a slave rebellion which leads to an escape on a merchant ship headed back to Africa. Virginia castes a temporary spell over the crew members until they realize that the crew members are actually sea pirates. Requiem and Virginia must find a way to help the hundred or so freed slaves that are stow away on the pirate ship as the spell wears off and the captain and his crew become more and more aggravated with their deception. Virginia is forced to find a spell with found materials only on the ship as she realizes that she must find the great sorcerer that is prophesied to live in Transylvania, in order to increase her abilities . Virginia is able to caste various spells that make the pirates subdue themselves and abandon the ship. The sisters are able to make it to Africa as the freed slaves return to their original homes with help from the treasures of the dead pirates. Requiem and Virginia are able to set upon the journey of finding Transylvania as Virginia continuers her desire to be the best enchantress to she can be. After a failed attempt of the knights templar invading Dracula’s castle, Virginia is able to foresee the castles deadly traps and enter the domain of the castle meeting a member of the Van Helsing family along with Dracula’s only son, Alucard. Requiem and Virginia spend almost a year learning about other customs, various religions as well as pagan practices, Requiem feels more comfortable reading after so many years of having to hide her literary skills on the plantation. Requiem also learns a further appreciation for music, the delicate balance of life and death and martial arts training with Alucard. The knights templar attempt to invade the castle again as they are accompanied by a dark shadowy figure that invests Requiem, the only way to preserve and delay her death is for Alucard to turn her into a vampire and sleep for the next 300 years, until they find a suitable cure. Modern day, we meet Aquarius a teenage oracle that is recently shunned from the Amish community for unholy visions. Aquarius finds herself at a smoke shop in Columbus Ohio ran by various witches led by a wise older witch names Virginia yet everyone, simply calls her Ma. Virginia and Aquarius have similar super natural abilities and seem to bond instantly as Virginia feels that their unique powers combined can bring back her long comatose older sister Requiem. Requiem awakens in a new world with new vampire abilities and has to navigate the jump from 16th century to modern technology, no longer seeing the sun, the lack of her own identity. Requiem must transition from Virginia being her younger sister to the older and wiser, mother figure that is more cautious in her old age then the wild leap before you look person in their adolescence. With help of the local mystics, Requiem becomes a social media character of herself which leads to the sheriffs daughter getting bit and having suicide by sun performed on her on live television. Seeing dead people isn’t new for Aquarius yet more recently is being haunted by a strange shadowy figure that Aquarius desperately needs help with from an Elder witch. Aquarius works on a serum to suppress Requiems thirst for blood and would allow Requiem to day walk as a vampire. Requiem must find out how is trying to frame her for biting the sheriffs daughter while attempting to reconnect with Virginia as Requiems new vampire personality has made her more emotional, self-serving and cold hearted. Requiem discovers that a small group of vampires set her up because they didn’t like that she exposed the world to their blood sucking ways. Requiem is baptized by fire as she must quickly learn her powers, defeat her assaulters and protect her new friends as the world around her seems to crumble. Requiem and Aquarius have a battle with a militia at a coffee shop bookstore as Requiem unlocks her full potential. Requiem has a hand to hand battle with a group of martial artist vampires as she realizes that they framed her for the sheriffs daughter murder. With the help of Virginia and Aquarius serum, Requiem is ultimately able to see the light of day and finally is connected with the man that gave her so many special abilities Alucard.
