Synopsis/Details
Richard travels to the small town of Crane, Oregon in order to present Mr. Harold Campbell with an eviction notice for non-payment of back taxes. Richard finds a rich old man, sitting in the dark, smoking Lucky Strikes, dining on Swanson's TV Dinners, drinking Jack Daniels, and living in a broken-down shack. Richard doesn't have the heart to evict the old man. As Richard leaves, he notices several antique relics lying on an old chair. Mr. Harold Campbell invites Richard Farthing to pick up a couple of the pills that actually belonged to John F Kennedy. Harold wants Richard to place those pills into the Back Box of Antiquity, and then latch the Black Box shut. Richard is suddenly transported back to the exact afternoon John F Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy are secretly discussing the Cuban Missile Crises in the Oval office. Yes, those pills do belong to John F Kennedy. The President takes them for his chronic back pain. Richard opens the Black Box back up and takes Kennedy's pills out from the Black Box. Richard quickly returns back again to the old man's living room. The old man invites Richard to travel back in time again. This time he will meet the last Czar of Russia, and the rest of the Romanov family, just before they are assassinated. Richard makes a very bad mistake while he is back in time. Instead of being satisfied as just a spectator of history, Richard actually gets involved in history this time. He tries to save Anastasia Romanov, the Czar's own daughter, from being murdered. Now, the very relic that allowed Richard to visit this important time in history; a pistol, has now been lost to history forever. Harold Campbell turns the Black Box of Antiquity over to Richard. Suddenly, the old man disappears right before Richard's eyes.
