Synopsis/Details
In the heart of a quiet Italian town, powerful entrepreneur Nick Villa is considered a legendary man: a philanthropist who lifted entire communities out of poverty and an icon of entrepreneurship. His death, at 85, marks the end of an era, celebrated with a state funeral. However, two years later, a disturbing event upends his legacy: his body is mysteriously stolen from his grave during the night, leaving the community shocked and his family devastated.
Giacomo "Jack" Villa, Nick's son, is an introverted man, burdened by the weight of his father's inheritance and his complicated relationship with his father figure. When the police contact him to inform him of the theft, Jack is reluctant to get involved, but he soon discovers that the authorities are not equipped to handle such a delicate case. Investigators Marco Russo, an intuitive but cynical man, and the silent Michele Sala, attempt to reconstruct the crime scene, but their leads prove weak and fragmentary.
Meanwhile, Jack, determined to protect his father's memory, begins a parallel investigation. His discoveries lead him to stumble upon dark family secrets, including Nick's mysterious past, made up of alliances with powerful figures and possible enemies never entirely forgotten. As Jack digs deeper, disturbing details emerge: the possibility of a conspiracy orchestrated by unsuspecting figures and the idea that the theft of the body is connected to a series of superstitious beliefs tied to immortality and power.
With time running out and the pressure of the police who consider him a possible suspect, Jack is forced to question everything he thought he knew about his father, his legacy and even himself. A mysterious kidnapper shows up with cryptic demands and a sinister threat: what was stolen will never be returned, unless Jack is willing to pay a price far greater than he imagined.
With twists and turns, moral conflicts and tense atmospheres, The Dead Do Not Walk is a story of obsession, redemption and the search for truth, where the lines between right and wrong blur, and the shadows of the past continue to haunt the living.
