Synopsis/Details
Pernilla loves her dog Pookie more than anything else, which is fortunate as she’s never found that ‘human’ special someone. Her routine life in Florida changes forever when she inherits her uncle’s property in the developing country of Belize, pulling her out of her comfort zone (and away from her dearest Pookie). While the property may have got her to the small village of Castel del Rio, it’s the street dogs she meets that keep her there. She’s determined to give the dogs a second chance by starting up a dog club. After an awkward start she eventually befriends one of the locals, Ernesto, who helps her work toward her goal (sometimes against his better judgement). Determined to stop Pernilla is Chito, the local mayor who didn’t get along with her uncle and believes the property should be his. She only has a short time in Belize and Chito will ensure she doesn’t overstay her welcome (if something ‘unfortunate’ doesn’t happen to her in the meantime). Even with some help from the locals, it’s still not enough for Pernilla to successfully train the dogs, and only Milano, a famous dog trainer from Hollywood, can help make her dream a reality. Somehow, she must convince him to travel across the world to help her. Pernilla defies the odds by establishing the dog club, getting Milano’s help, standing against Chito and uncovering a mystery that her uncle left for her to solve: the clues that point to his death being murder. During it all, when she least expected it, she falls in love along the way.
