Synopsis/Details
In an alternate future, the world is infested with racism, hatred, and prejudice. A family of black people struggle to flee from a number of white supremacists, and leave the father, Kevin, behind. Kevin, who has been researching and studying wormholes and time travel for several years, has manufactured a method to travel through time. By going back to the past, Kevin finds himself in 1955. Here, he tries to battle the issue of racism and fight for the rights of his people, but fails as he lacks the true passion to do so. He encounters a man named Jean, who helps Kevin accomplish his goal. Jean, who has confidence, passion, and willpower, serves as a great weapon in battling racism, and introduces Kevin to uprising movements. He also meets a small boy named Merlin, who represents the next generation of black people and changes Kevin's viewpoint in a number of ways. Merlin aids Kevin and Jean in their mission and works with them to support movements that promote equal opportunities for people of colour and ending racism. In the future, Kevin's daughter, Maree, displays the same level of passion as her father, shown by how she works hard to protect her family and fights for their rights. Back in the past, Jean and Kevin continue to work towards abolishing racism in several ways. However, due to Jean's carelessness, he is unfortunately killed through poisoning, likely from a white man who had a filthy grudge on Jean. Kevin, knowing who killed Jean but being unable to prosecute the killer due to his skin color, finds himself lost and worthless. He believes he will be unable to end racism on his own, and loses hope. He despises humanity for taking Jean away, and believes that humanity doesn't deserve a second chance, hereby considering the option of ending humanity through creating a black hole. A vision of his late wife, however, convinces him to make the right decision of helping humanity rather than killing them. She makes him see that the world still needs him, and that he won't be alone in his journey. Eventually, as he realises that the world needs so much more improvement and his help, he sets aside the catastrophic option and vows to end racism like he had initially planned to. His jarred view of the terrible, prejudicial world around him gave him a passion and drove him to be the change that the world needed so desperately. Kevin and several other black people, including Merlin and notable people from the Civil Rights Movement, work hard and fight for equal opportunities for black people, they struggle and face hardships, but they never stop fighting for their rights. Kevin realises that he cannot go back to the future, to his daughters, as he could not end his journey now, hewould stop at nothing, not even his dying breath, until people became accepting of their differences and set aside the prejudice and hate. He also realises that he is dying, as this version of himself isn't meant to exist in the timeline he is currently existing in, which makes him an anomaly that the universe is trying to eliminate at a very slow pace. He sends a letter to the future, to his daughters, narrating and explaining the whole situation, and he comes to terms with the fact that he is dying a slow death due to universal regulation.
